That depends upon what is bad. I go in the summer due to much less tourists and cheaper times. I love it then. Keep in mind to:

always carry a little plastic bottle of purified water from local market
wear light colored loose fitting clothes, esp. tees and shorts and sandals. Do not even think about long pants or dark colors!
wear sun screen always on arms and legs and face
try to shop, tour in am from 8am-10:30am and rest inside, keep cool, sit by fans or in a/c and then resume fun after 3pm. Evenings are delightful
if hot, go to Playa Los Muertos for nice breezes off the bay and sip a cool one
keep alcohol consumption down and eat lightly.

I will be back mid August and condo is open.
Most of all, enjoy!!!

We went to Puerto Vallarta on a cruise and I did not like it at all. I think its way over rated. WE went on a tour and I didn't see anything I would want to go back to. I liked Cabo much better on the Mexico West coast and my first choice for a Mexico vacation would be Cancun. Cancun is way way better than PV.

I suggest that you go on a crusie to MExico cities first so that you can see for yourself what placs you like, or like best. We took a Mexico cruise out of LA (Long Beach) which stopped in Cabo, Puerta Vallarta, and Acapulco. Now I know that CAbo is the only place I would go back to.

I loved Puerto Vallarta! One of the highlights for me was when we went on a day trip on a party pirate ship!
