I don't wanna use pesticide around my dog's dish and I don't wanna waste time constantly cleaning to wash the ants away either.

Please help.

if outside put the food bowl inside another bigger water filled bowl.
it makes a kind of moat around the food bowl and ants usually don't like to swim moats. make sure the food bowl is taller so the water does't make the food soggy.

Put a large, shallow dish on the floor, fill it with water and put a heavy food dish in the middle of the shallow dish so none of the sides of either dish touch. Think of a donut. The water prevents the ants from getting to the food. You can even buy dishes that are sort of made that way already. Look up anti-ant dish on the Internet.

This is going to sound crazy, but it works....sprinkle Borax along the base of the house and the ants will not come in. I had a real hard time with ants in the cat food until I discovered this little trick.

There are actually food/water dishes made for this purpose. Available at Wal-Mart, PetSmart, etc. They are some type of heavy plastic material & made a certain way. Also are guaranteed to keep pests out.

they make cool trays that are like mini tables for dogs, that keep their bowls off the ground. keep it clean and don't leave food in the bowl when the dog is done eating.

The only thing I woud say is not leave the food lying around. Let the dog eat, then clean it right away.
