The most egregious act of anthropomorhizing nature was the "earth mother" concept. What a load of malarky that is. The earth is not a 'living organism', but some people think so.

The usual result has been a hatred of humanity as believers in this concept consider humans not part of nature. Some would happily become the Kim Jong Il's of the environmental activist set and kill us all.

Where do I begin? What havent we done to nature that doesnt have it resembling the human ideals. We try to police nature, and control nature, trying to mold it into our own image and we always have been. I think it has mostly to do with the fact that as the only animal on the planet that has left our wild instinctive roots in the crapper, the only way we can cope is to take over and turn what scares us into something we are familiar with. Thats just my rant.....hope that gives you somethin to scratch your head about.HA!
