The Winchester .22 Magnum is by far the best. I say this because of its superior accuracy and because of excellent bullet expansion. If you get a Ruger bolt action, Mdl 77, put a quality 4X scope on it, you will be able to kill anything you want to out to 75 yards.

The 22 Mag is actually a poor choice. Most people shoot varmints long range. The Mag just doesn't hold up.
The .204 Ruger, 22-250, .243, .223 and a few others are superior performers.
Look at the ballistics charts on the site below. The charts are from a link on the left side

.223 AR15 CAR with a scope and 20-30 round mag.
I used to shoot prairie dogs open sight with a 22 rifle. My eyes are as good as they used to be.
The 223 is a reach out and touch weapon. I've dropped a Coyote at 300 yards..prairie dogs from a 1/4 mile I still like shooting pups in the spring at close range.

stay away from both 22mag and .17 for dogs and coyotes. read all the other answers. probably the 223 is the best for you. cheap ammo too.

Out of the selection you offer, the .22 magnum is the better caliber.
If you are looking at purchasing, tho, you might want to consider the .220 Swift. It's a great varmit rifle.

.223 remington is much better for both of those purposes. It has range and wound channeling much surperior to either the 22 mag or the 17 hmr. It is also the cheapest centerfire cartridge.
