Funny story here. I was attending Catholic High School, back in the '60s, and was standing in the cafeteria line with my fly open.
The prefect of discipline, Brother Harry, walks past, leans over and says "Better zip up. Gonna catch cold." !

Say, in private, "Excuse me, but your zipper is down."
Incidentally, why does a zipper being down have to be such a BIG deal? Women run around in all states of undress all the time. Besides, one doesn't 'see' anything when a guy's zipper is (accidentally) left down, really, does one?

Politely and casually.
If you are in a group of people, try and do it in a way that does not cause him to be made fun of if no one else realizes it. But if you can't do this, just tell him in a no nonsense manner.

if Im in public i say "hey!" and when they look at me I just kinda point and nod my head. But if there no one around i just tell them.
