Hmmm, good point. Why does it help us feel more loved, to think of a God who would not only send his son to die, but would in effect, demand it?
I do believe that Jesus shows us the nature of God's love through his life and teaching. And in those things we see a God who loves, who reaches out to the outcasts, the poor, the outsiders.

I was tired of seeing "John 3:16" until I believed in Jesus Christ and actually read about his life in the Holy Bible.
I agree with everything in the first of your three comments ["God sent his son to an earth filled with sinners, watched him die a horrible death, he already knew his son would die a horrible death."]
As for your second comment ["God is a lousy parent. period. full-stop."], this seems to be an odd conclusion. If I were an new investor (responsible for making the most money I could with the money I had) who spent my entire savings (say, $1) to make one billion times that amount (yes, that would be $1 billion) would you call me a lousy investor for placing my money in risk to gain it back in full and much more?
As for your third comment [Any father who would deliberately have his child killed, can't be capable of love.], this also seems to be a very odd conclusion. By this logic, what loving parent would ever have children, knowing that birth will lead to death (until Jesus returns).
There is much more to the life of Jesus Christ and God's love for the world than is captured in this one verse from the Bible. I suggest that you read it - it might aid your fatigue.

No, i don't. Because it's true. God does love us because he gave his only Son so that the world could be saved from their sins. God is a far better parent then you will ever be. He didn't just look down from heaven and laugh at Jesus. Jesus' horrible death was the only way to save us including you from our sins. God is not a lousy parent. A good parent would accept the fact that it was their son that had to die for the world, and know that they would see them again. You see, Jesus rose from the dead 3 days later. God knew this would happen, so he let his son take all of the world's sins on his shoulders and die for us.

See how confusing context reading can be? God did not have an ONLY son...we are all "sons" & "daughters"...all parts of the Wholeness. And although you are referring to the one called Jesus, why do you & so many focus on his death rather than the wonderful life he had...the many people he positively touched, the many countries & cultures he became part of...the "gathering" of knowledge & truths that he eventually led his life with? Seems a more positive focus, Yes? And, just for the record...he did not die the horrible death that is written about in the Bible...

Any Father who could raise His son from that death is a far better Father than you.

I also object to the pagan idea of the human sacrifice that Christianity centers its entire belief system upon. I think it is gruesome and inhuman. additionally, I consider the idea of Holy Communion distasteful in that Catholics are supposed to ingest the body and blood of Christ. Smacks of cannibalism.

Well he loves you regardless of your hateful speach. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for your sins and here you are disrespecting him. Your sins are why he died, he is living in heaven in glory right now, and has made a place for those of us who choose to follow him. Please don't make the devil your choice, there are many who will and will be in irreversible regrets.

I am tired of hearing it because it deludes people into thinking that we are not god's children, if Jesus was his only son. God is in each of us.
