Is it safe to give my 3 month old kittens Hartz once-a-month wormer (Piperazine Adipate) for ringworms? They did have tapeworms and I gave them medicine for that but want to give them this just in case they got it too or as preventive maintenance.

Btw, I purchased this from the 99 cent store.

Hartz has has soo many recalls because their products killed animals...Any worm-er you can find at a store wont work...just go to your vet...less hassle

I think you meant 'roundworms' not 'ringworms.' So-called ringworm is actually a skin fungus. Anything with piperazine is better than nothing but there are more effective dewormers available. Look for something with pyrantel as the active ingredient.

Neither of the above will treat tapeworms; for that you need praziquantel - look for Tape Worm Tabs by Tradewinds.

I wouldn't trust anything from a 99 cent (or dollar) store; even if it were good to begin with, there's no telling how it's been handled or how long it was sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The crap in those stores is cheap for a reason. (True story - I once found toothpaste from overseas with a mercury-containing additive; YUCK!)

I have 4 kitties, all hand raised from birth, and would never give them anything except what the vet gives me to give them. She gives me enough to worm them every 3 months for nearly a year. I keep it in the fridge. I give it to them by mouth in a syringe with no needle. You give it once a day, in a sequence of days, follow up again in so many days, and are done until it is time again. It is in expensive, it is 100% effective on digestive worms, the dosage will be accurately measured as it changes with their growth, and it will NOT kill your sweet babies. Good luck and you might post your outcome at a later date.

Ask your vet clinic, And if you only got a product from a 99cents store it probly wont work.

ABSOLUTELY, STAY AWAY FROM HARTZ. Please, PLEASE, go to your vet and get your kittens dewormed and vaccinated properly. Hartz products either don't work or they are fatal to pets.
