I only have 8' celing with a ceiling fan. I would love to get a canopy bed but most are 81" or taller. I measured and it doesn't leave much clearance between the fan and the top of the canopy rails and am afraid the bed will look to big. Has anyone put a canopy bed in a bedroom with 8' ceilings and/or have photos they don't mind sharing?

Here is the canopy bed I'm wanting to buy at LNT. http://www.lnt.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1444044&cp=1331609.1331971.1772888&view=all&filter=yes&fCat=1772888&fpricesort=priceAscending&parentPage=family

I had a canopy bed in a very small room with 8' ceilings- I think it would have looked a little better if it had been a bigger room, but the ceiling height was fine. One thing I did to make it Colonial and cozy was to add light cotton bed curtains, not just the canopy on top.

This isn't mine, but same concept:

I have seen rooms, small and large, with a canopy bed in them. In a large room the bed makes the room. In a smaller room, the bed takes all of the attention from the room. You walk in and say, wow, that looks great in here, because the bed has all of your attention. If you can't tell, I really like canopy beds.

As far as the ceiling fan is concerned, I would take it out and replace it with new lighting. I think you are going to have to make a choice about the fan or the canopy bed.

Good Luck

I personally like to put in the biggest bed I can--it makes it feel like a room within a room for me. But if it's more important for you to have the function of the overhead fan than the look of a canopy bed, I'd say go with another model of bed for your situation.

Maybe that bed is too big for your room, however go to www.domestications.com they have this really cool ring that you hang on the ceiling that you can drape panels of your choice through and it gives a canopy affect.
