is boredom linked to smoking? I doubt it I get bored but I don't smoke.Kids start smoking to be (in their eyes) cool then the addictiveness of nicotine takes over and they are hooked.
The only good thing about smoking is that along with other factors
such as junk food and lack of exercise is that it leads to an early grave thus helping solve the pension crisis that is looming because the warbabies who have given up these vices, if they ever had them are living longer.

on a substance is defined by the appearance of characteristic withdrawal symptoms when the drug is suddenly discontinued. While opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, alcohol and nicotine are all well known for their ability to induce physical dependence, other drugs share this property that are not considered addictive: cortisone, beta-blockers and most antidepressants are examples. So while physical dependency can be a major factor in the psychology of addiction, the primary attribute of an addictive drug is its ability to induce euphoria while causing harm

I'm a smoker and yes, nicotine is addictive and harder than heroin to quit, but if I'm in a situation where I can't smoke, like a long-haul flight for example, I find it absolutely no problem waiting however many hours until I can smoke, so I think there is a huge amount of psychlogy involved, and quitting can be relatively easy; it's just a matter of how much you want to.

yes it's physically addictive but the physical addiction withdrawal is easy to deal with it doesn't last long - the psychological factors are the hard bit of giving up smoking that's why people that have given up still want one every so often years after they arent addicted to them physically

As a smoker who loathes his habit, I can assure you that nicotine is horribly addictive. The psychological dependence is a major factor in the habit cycle, but oh boy, that nicotine withdrawal, it's nasty!

Nicotine is definitely physically addictive. If you or anyone you know want to stop (rather than give up - there's nothing to give up) Allen Carr is the man.
