My GF and I are on a break and its one of about 5 times we have run into a problem in 7 years, no time did it last longer than a month. Is it ok for me to ask her friends (people i rarely speak to) about the situation or will that make it worse?

Dave, I answered your question about the break situation. I think that her friends (if they're not in the same program med student) they probably have been feeling like you. Honestly you try not to forget about your friends, but it's just something that happens. You are so consumed with what you need to learn, and trust me you want to be at the top of your class, your social life falls by the wayside.

Hang in there! You can email me if you want ergoddessrn@sbcglobal.net - unfortuantly I'm in the same boat.

Yes but not all the time her friends don't want to here about your problems or anything else they just want to see you two be happy so if you rarely ask that is OK but if you frequently do it her friends are just going to hate you and always think that is all you want to talk to them about.

I think it should be OK because you're just asking for advice. They probably know better about her than you so why not.
