If you don't believe in anything why do you like to answer people of faith? Do you honestly think you can shake someone's faith with your empty views, or do you secretly want what/look for what God has to offer, a new life

I believe a lot of atheist have a hurt in the past that keeps them from accepting the truth (Christ) that they know is real. Others never want to acknowledge God so they aren't reminded that certain acts aren't moral.

I believe many come to boards like this trying to justify their views to themselves. They want to make a Christians upset then rationalize to themselves that its proof that God doesn't exist. Since they have not let God into their hearts they are looking for something that makes them whole, atheism is their sad attempt to do so.

Q: If you don't believe in anything why do you like to answer people of faith?

A: Because you are spouting the myths, superstitions and delusions of a bunch of wandering Bronze Age goat herders, and asserting them to be the 'truth'. It is the responsibility of all rational people to confront these absurdities and, if possible, intervene to prevent such organized insanity from being passed on to susceptible minds.

Q: Do you honestly think you can shake someone's faith with your empty views, or do you secretly want what/look for what God has to offer, a new life?

A: No. Rational people recognize that you are hopelessly lost in these delusions... but then, as I said... this isn't about you. It is about intervening to protect susceptible minds FROM you.

Because atheists hope to break the spell religion has cast over humanity and spread reason throughout the land. What better place to do it than in a place where those kinds of discussions are going on.

Empty views? I'm sure atheists have given it much more thought than most religious folk have. They've explored the God issue very deeply. Besides, a lot of who you're calling atheists are probably more likely agnostics.

I know what you mean. I just pass up their answers. They are usually a joke. I feel bad that so many people have so much hate inside of them. I know that everyone has their own opinion and that is fine. But if I am asking a question to a CHRISTIAN, then I am not asking for a answer from a non believer that just wants to insult me. We get that enough in the world and don't need it here when we are trying to find answers. I am not saying that they do not belong here at all. It is the "religion & spirituality" section. But if you don't have a good answer why waste time.
You don't piss us off we just feel sorry for you!

We want to help people see the light. We know they will thank us for it afterwards, as we are grateful to those who were a positive influence in our own lives.

Religious belief is a hugely important influence in the world, and yet no-one in all of human history has ever produced one single solitary fact or valid argument to logically justify a belief in the existence of any deities. Religious beliefs and religious differences cause enormous harm throughout the world in terms of promoting violent conflict, persecution, discrimination, oppression and so on, all on the basis of something which no-one can show is anything more than pure fantasy.

Hence I would say that atheists are not only *entitled* to discuss, criticise, condemn and ridicule religious belief, we have a *duty* to do so, in the hope that one day everyone will see it for the nonsense that it really is. Anyone who insists we should just keep quiet about it is gravely mistaken.

When you go to "answer" you see all the questions and some of the questions from the religious nuts are just too stupid to pass on.

The basic problem is they ask about details of things where a whole slew of unproven assumptions are already accepted.

There is no answer to "why did God invent baseball" or "what does God want me to do with the $100 I found" or "why did God kill the dinosaurs". The answers can't make any sense because the questions don't.

It's like asking "why are airplanes only flown by turtles" or "why does my dog refuse to make me a pizza" or "why is my left foot a Republican and my right foot a Democrat".

Well, the tricky thing there is the definition of the word 'GOD'. I've found that most self-proclaimed athiests believe in a lot more than nothing. They just don't want to sign up for a bunch of hypocritical lies that have been handed down through the ages..(ie. Christianity) Most athiests however do have a certain 'bone to pick' with the spiritually based members of society. They are indeed looking for chinks in their own armor..however psychology will show us that anyone who wants to talk about anything...JESUS, agriculture, sex. Is reaching out for understanding. The big problem is seeing people for a religeous denomination. Everyone is a human with certain gifts and problems. The humanity has left the church, it walks with republican bipartisanism and it makes me SICK! That's all I have, thank you for reading. :)

I think you answered your own question.

The majority of the people that come to this board are only here to argue and spew ingorance.

Its purely boredom.

Then there are a rare few that actually want to explain their beliefs. Why explain it to someone who already believes?

This is the exact place for them to be.

Just as Christians preach to those who dont believe there views, what do you expect an Athiest to do.

We are all really the same thing, just carrying different motives. Thats what I find ironic about people who complain that religious sects push their opinions onto others.

So do non-religious people. And thus the world turns...

I think often times people feel compelled to proove those of an opposing view wrong, or to simply mock them. Many atheists dislike Christanity, because it is the dominate religion in the western world and they have more than likely come into contact with it in a negative way. Besides, with the political climate as it is in the US and abroad, you can find arguing between atheists and christians on any cable news channel...

I'm not sure what the A/Q means but I belvieve that very few Atheists are here to honestly seek the truth of the Bible. I think mostly they are here to try to shake your faith. To make you doubt your own beliefs.
Remember "The demons also believe and they tremble"
They do this on purpose - regardless of what they tell you.

You don't honestly expect them to admit to the truth do you?

Why would you not want them too? They can't shake your faith if you don't let them. Just like the guy above said, it is the Holy Spirit. Even if some only come here to stir up mischief, so what. Let them ask questions. Give good answers. How else will they know?
