Contact Microsoft 1-800-MICROSOFT (1-800-642-7676), they will lookup your registration information and mail you out a new disc for aprox 20 bux

I had a disc that became cracked and contacted them, I gave them a bit of information and within two days a new CD arrived on my doorstep, complete with a CD-Key

You could use someone else's disc but don't use their serial number as it may have already been activated. If you have your CD-Key go ahead and try using it. Certain CD's are coded to work with certain groups of serials so your CD-KEY may not work with another persons CD but you are always free to try.

No. You will need discs, any discs.

Losing the disk is OK, as you can use any XP media.....question is, did you lose the CD key?

If you did you are SOL. Sorry.

no because you have to have the number off the disk to make it legal.

Sometimes the installation files are copied to your harddisk you can run setup with some parameters from there to resetup your system.

If you have a recovery partition from a store bought computer you might be able to. You could also pirate it, but I advise against it. Microsoft might replace it try reading this:

In a word...Nope.

But if you have the serial number you originally used, you can use anyone else's copy and just enter your serial number. (Legal)
