was the only appearence of God in history?

Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led his flock beyond the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of a bush; he looked, and the bush was blazing, yet it was not consumed. 3Then Moses said, "I must turn aside and look at this great sight, and see why the bush is not burned up." 4When the LORD saw that he had turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am." 5Then he said, "Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground." 6He said further, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.

And he appeared as a flame like brush.. was he to holy to be seen... that you actually would die if you saw him?

To be accurate, that verse says that the ANGEL of the Lord appeared to Moses. And yes, if someone sees the face of God, they will die:

Exo 33:17 So the LORD told him, "I will do what you have asked, because I am your friend and I am pleased with you."
Exo 33:18 Then Moses said, "I pray that you will let me see you in all of your glory."
Exo 33:19 The LORD answered: All right. I am the LORD, and I show mercy and kindness to anyone I choose. I will let you see my glory and hear my holy name,
Exo 33:20 but I won't let you see my face, because anyone who sees my face will die.
Exo 33:21 There is a rock not far from me. Stand beside it,
Exo 33:22 and before I pass by in all of my shining glory, I will put you in a large crack in the rock. I will cover your eyes with my hand until I have passed by.
Exo 33:23 Then I will take my hand away, and you will see my back. You will not see my face.

There are several instances where God has made an appearance to mankind. Many believe that these appearances (in human form) are the pre-incarnate Jesus. Abraham met with Yahweh several times. Genesis 17:1-4, 9-10, 15-16, 22, and 18:1-3, 10.

God also wrestled with Jacob. Genesis 32:24-30.

Moses saw God in several forms: Exodus 3:2-6, 24:10-11, and chapters 33-34

Joshua met with God. Joshua 5:13-15

Manoah and his wife met Him. Judges 13

Isaiah had a vision of Him. Isaiah 6

So did Ezekiel. Ezekiel 1-3, 43

And the three Hebrew exiles met with God in the furnace. Daniel 3:22-25

There are many other examples, but in all of these cases, God chose to limit Himself and His glory so that people could see a glimpse, without dying.

God is not human, therefore he does not look anything like us. He isn't man despite of any picture you see of Jesus walking the earth. Jesus's pictures were concocted by man that's why you would think that God is just like him. He's not.

God can appear any way he wants to to but most of the time he uses angels; That's what he has them for, to do his works. Everything about him is Holy, even his voice. There's nothing not pure about him.

Could you ever imagine looking at "someone" that has NEVER sinned? Most people believe that they don't deserve the honor to be in his presence because of his purity.

Yeah, when Moses was on Mount Sinai he wanted to see God's face, but God told him that if he saw his full glory he would die, so he showed him a tiny fraction of his glory and Moses's face shone for forty days. Apparently the glory reflected in his face was s unbearable to see that he had to wear a veil.

God did not appear in front of Prophet Moses (PBUH). Moses (PBUH) is the only Prophet with whom God had communication directly. Rest of the Prophets received through angel Gabrial.

No one can see God and yet live is what the Bible says. All appearances are angels sent as representatives of God, angels are God's messengers.

He is a consuming fire to sin the Bible says and thus we are born in sin and shapen in iniquity and sin has thus separated us from Him. The gap is however bridge by Jesus. When He returns again as the Bible says in Revelation is glory and light will destroy sinners and they will run to the rocks and cry for them to fall on them.
