I'm getting married in September of "07. Do you think I should be making any plans right now or is it too early? What should I be doing at this point?

It's never to early to start planning. The more time you give yourself, the less likely something will go wrong at the last minute.

Church/wedding site and the reception site are the two hardest to schedule so they are usually the first on the list. Another biggie would be your dress followed by your attendents dresses. This is due to ordering, the dresses being made, shipping and alterations; you could be looking at eight months right here! If you'd like, I'm a rep for Dreams by Renee http://www.dreamsbyreneebridal.com and they have some absolutely gorgeous dresses. They can even do custom work, if needed, at extremely reasonable prices!

Flowers and decorations can be done almost at any time, but I would start looking for a repuable florest at about six months. If need be, you can even do all of your flowers and decorations yourself. Check out Michaels for some lovely ideas. http://www.michaels.com

The caterer and the invitations should also be started at about five or six months. I am also a rep for Regency Thermographics if you are interested. http://AphroditesCreations.regency.ac

I obviously didn't go into every little detail (there are tons), but I was trying to get the bigger ones. Let me know if I can help in any way. Good luck!

It's never too early really. But a lot of it depends on where you're getting married and the type of wedding you want. You should definitely be thinking about your general theme, size and location. In some places you have to book far in advance - I know in San Francisco some places book up to 2 years in advance, so depending on where you are you should get started. It's also never too early to have your parents or you or whoever start thinking up possible guest lists.

You can google wedding planner or wedding organizer and probably come up with a bunch of timelines. I cut and pasted about 20 different timelines together to make one that fit my own wedding timeline. Good luck!

I planned my own wedding in 6 months
But it Depends on some things:
How many people are you having?
big or small
How much Savings you have
You should book some things Just after the New Year!
The caterer, your photographer, your dj anything else that needs to be booked ie :the hall/ reception site

DON'T GET TO STRESSED OUT THAT IS THE MAIN THING AS LONG AS YOU ARE ORGANIZED IT WILL BE FINE
CONGRATULATIONS MAY YOU HAVE A LONG AND HAPPY MARRIAGE GOOD LUCK!!!

Wow! Congratualtions firstly! I got engaged April 2005, and I am getting married August of 2006 and am no where near ready! It takes a LOT of time, so I would say start as soon as possible. The wedding website the knot has a step by step guide of what needs to be done every month. But since you are still over a year away I would say you need to book the major things. Photographer, caterer, reception site, church or wedding site, minister or justice of the peace, video taping person (if you want one), get your dress, order the rings, get a D.J. or live band set up, pick your wedding party. Main things like that. We booked our photographer over a year ahead of our wedding date and within a week of us booking him, he had 3 other couples trying to book him for the same date, so we were just in time to get him! Best of luck and if you have ANY questions or just want to take "one bridezilla to another" feel free to IM me!!

At this point you should be getting off of your computer and making deposits, reserving locations. Remember your not the only one getting married so you better book now for next year. Your question is if I think you are too far in advance is NO! You are not even considered advanced more closer to a SLACKER!. Good luck and Congratulations.

It depends on the type of wedding you want. When we first got engaged, I booked stright away (a year in advance), but then we had to change the date because of family. Then we were just engaged with no date. But, on Friday we decided to get married in Bermuda (I am in South Africa and he is in the UK at the moment). We have most of our stuff done (in 3 days). Our wedding is in 4 weeks. So it just depends on what you want. Good luck and congratulations!

Weddings can be planned in advance (a year or more) or last minute. Anything is possible. However, if there's special locations and services you want to have, start early! Congrats! :)

Yes! Start planning. It is better to have extra time then not enough time. Besides you can start trying different things to make the right decisions so you have a perfect wedding. Have fun! :-) and Congrats!!!

I planned a beautiful wedding in two months. Don't stress so much about it. The only thing you are going to have to remember is pictures and the video. Only splurge on those two things. Seriously.
