And modern religion is becoming politicized.

"Jesus says to vote out the heathen liberals and helpeth us overturn those unfair capital gains taxes."

In the US it most certainly is. The constitutional division of church and state has been stretched to the most thinning propped up joke. George Bush's Protestant Fundamentalist Christianity is now the state religion.

That means if you ain't one of the above, prepare to be "oppressed". It's just a matter of time- see Hitler.

To worship George W. is to worship Jesus Christ. He has taken the place as the US' religious leader. What he says for Christian law goes.

Considering the Bible is completely vague on most modern social issues (no matter what some vein-popping, red-faced and rage-filled televangelist tells you) your newly recognized Hitler can tell you to do what ever he wants you to and probably find some tenuous reference to it somewhere in the Bible- if any Christians actually bother to know what it really says anymore.

Welcome to the dark ages. You are now on the same road as medaeval Catholicism. And you did it in little more than a generation- American ignorance and self-righteousness knows no bounds. You've broken a historic record for being fooled by a power-hungry monkey.

Every society gets the criminals it deserves. The US didn't even get forced they simply got scared into it by big bad terrorism. Just like Hitler used the burning of the Reichstag. The people simply turned over like a dog to have it's belly scratched. No guts.

"The price of freedom is eternal vigilence"-- Thomas Jefferson

Apparently Americans can't afford the price any longer.

Good luck and good riddance.

Modern politics has a lot in common with religion, especially with organized, structured religions. It's got the social aspects, the specific doctrines that most members agree with but some don't, yet they still consider themselves members, and lots of heated debate and "I'm right you're wrong."

What they're missing is the core part that makes a religion a "religion" and not a "philosophy" or "lifestyle": a way of connecting to divinity.

And a lot of people don't use their religion to connect to divinity, so they don't notice that it's missing from the other social organizations that are superficially similar.

Modern politics is a farce! I think most modern polititians have stepped off the planet for a time. Every one of them is afraid they might say something that might make them "Un American."

While they are gone, the born again nut cases out there very much want to step in and take over. Keep in mind, if you don't believe their way there's no way to heaven's highway!!!

Fanatisism like theirs and others like Ann Coulter scare the heck out of me. There is absolutely no reasoning with people like that. They have one point of view and allow no room for any kind of reasonable differences! It's their Hitleresque syndrome!

Yes and that will herald in the time predicted in Revelation 13 and 14. Also the Mark of the Beast - when church and state merge it will be evident.
