They are free of thought due to their "I have no belief" philosophy?

I'm a freethinker, and about four years ago my "free thought" led me to conclude that being Catholic was the way to go.

I disagree. I am an atheist, and I do not call myself a free thinker. I cannot think freely, as I am constrained by scientific fact and reality, which are two things that Christians are taught do not exist, or exist only when convenient. Free thinking would be making up mindless drivel, or believing in mythological tales of creation and sin and damnation, where there exists absolutely no proof of any of them.

No, and I'll try to dumb this down enough for you to understand...
as Atheists we rarely call ourselves "free thinkers" because we are not free to believe whatever crap comes our way. We are constrained by this little thing called reality. You may have heard of it.
We reject mythology and that is what you hate the most. The fact that we haven't fallen for one of the longest running con-jobs in history.

Theism is not "belief," and atheism is not "no belief." I don't call myself "freethinker" but I don't have a 2000 year old rule book.

You have fallen victim to propaganda. Atheism does not involve "having no beliefs."

edsawyer is right. This is a tired avenue.

Please do some research before making assumptions that are patently untrue.

I do have belief...I believe in myself. I can do anything I put my mind to. I also have love from and for my family in friends and joy and happiness from my life every day. I have faith in my own abilities.

Wow...
Belief
Love
Joy
Happiness
Faith

Aren't those all the things you say you can't get without god?

i'd say they call themselves free thinkers because they have the freedom to chose their belief instead of being afraid of an almighty fist that is shaking itself at you from 2000 years in the past
