Just wanted to ask this question because it seems like todays wired and brainwashed society does not even care that our freedoms are being limited daily. Every one seems to concerned about that cool band, show, product, fashion, etc and does not pay attention to the important things in life. Is it not extremely pathetic that ALOT more people vote for the next "American Idol" than they vote for the next American president? (Or any other elected office)

Am I the only one that realizes that todays society is nothing more than a hollow, insane, meaningless society?

Wake up for one day you might find that none of it is real and the things you should have cherished have been taken away while you were asleep...

Amendment II

Amendment III
No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

I agree with you that people should be more involved in the process, but alas we as Americans have short attention spans, and constantly take our freedoms for granted. My personal opinion has always been if you don't vote then you have no right to complain. Voting is your ticket to the show, and if you don't use your ticket then you are just part of the problem.

I would also tell you that you shouldn't lose faith. America is a land of unbridled opportunity, and while it is easy to snipe among ourselves in the good times, when we are truly threatened we usually find a way to pull together for the common good. Just remember back to the days following Sept. 11, 2001. People were deeply saddened by the tragedy, but we took solace in each other, and for a short while we came together as a nation. America will survive because that is one of the things we do well. Be a patriot, be proud of your country, and always keep your ethusiasm while encouraging other to do the same. In the end you will always be a happy person overall if you do.

Manusoccer - If that is your idea of freedom, more power to you because indeed you will never find it. Freedom is not a license to do whatever you want whenever you want. No such freedom ever existed anywhere in the world in any time period. Freedom in America grants you rights, which are clearly spelled out in the Constitution, they are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Just imagine a world where everyone did exactly what they wanted, when they wanted, to whom they wanted. The result would be complete chaos, and the destruction of society as we know it. However as an American you do have the right to think and wish as you choose, and I definitely support that concept. But you are definitely not right!!!

1. rights of speech, press, religion, pettition assembly
2. right to bear arms
3. right to not have soilders live in ur house during times of peace.

the american idol statistic was wrong, thank God, more ppl voted in the 2004 election than on american idol, but even if it was true, the statistic would be skewered becuase u can vote for AI more than once.

what does freedom mean? that is a question i cant answer, since i am 14 and have not experienced hardships, and neither has most ppl.
the only ppl who could possible understand and truly appreicate freedom are those who lived w/o it.

yes many freedoms are being limited and stomped on, hopefully that will be over thanks to the court, maybe it will end around 2008, when bush leaves office.

freedom~ there are so many deffinitions, that i don't have enough space to tell you
first three amendments~ ya sure do, they are: 1-freedom of religon and expression, 2- Right to bear Arms 3- Quartering of soliders.
but i do believe you are right. ppl today take for granted what really is offered in America. o and we fought for the right to vote but how come now we have to persuade everyone to go and vote? its stupid, and i do some what realize but do not totally agree w/ that 2days society is nothing more than a hollow, insane, meaningless society.

Your right people do concentrate on popular. Freedom is a way of saying that we have many privilege and we have to obtain the responsibilities as well. For example freedom of speech you can say what you want but if offend someone its your own fault. The first 3 amendments are Freedom of regional, petition, press, assembly. Next amendments is Right to have guns as long as u have a license. Right to decide whether u want to quarter solider.

I agree. Philosophically no one is truly free.
"Freedom is the ability to act without the initiation of force (or its threat) being used against you. You have a right to freedom because your life is your property, yours to live as you see fit (as long as you do not violate the right to life and liberty of another)." Do you buy that definition?

Freedom is just an illusion. Life is just an illusion and the images before us are only perceptions. The truth is Love. When someone dies or faces death...They reflect on the love within them and around them. Love is the truth.

Yes I do know. No you are not the only one. If you want to change the situation, write to your congresspeople and let them know how you feel. Also, vote for the best candidate, not for whichever party you think will win. Encourage others to vote.

Freedom is the right to chose your own life, and live it any way you want.

the first three, without looking, are:
1. freedom of press, assembly, speech, petition, and religion
2. the right to bear arms, to ensure freedom, and form militia
3. The right to not quarter troops on your property.
