I went to my brothers house a few days ago and hes always been the messy type who didn't like to clean up anything. And I decided to clean up a bit while he was making some lunch. I noticed that under all the garbage he had in this one spot on the floor, there were these odd thingd like what happens when a snake sheds, and theres these little worms running aout with long reddish hairs on their backs and they are black and white striped. Anybody know what this is? I fear for my brothers health.
Sorry but They didnt have an insects catagory and I didnt know where else to post this.

i know it looked gross, but it is probably nothing more than the larvae of some insect. They could have been caterpillars. They might (and most probably are) the larvae of an insect that lives in produce. Don't let me gross you out, but I would bet that most people eat several different kinds of larvae every year. The acids in the human stomach kill most of them.
If you really want to know which specific "worm" it is, go to the state agricultural office in your county. Just look up your state government on a search engine and follow the prompts. There will be someone with a degree in Entomology. Good Luck !

more suitable than likely if it feels like an amano shrimp (or between the algae eating shrimp) it more suitable than likely is. Amano's are frequently kept in goldfish tanks because they're so strong with cleansing and ought to stay in cooler temps. This little guy (on the grounds that they're fairly sparkling) ought to have hitched a vacation in a much smaller state. without a photo regardless of the indisputable fact that it must be complicated to placed a finger on it. My wager must be an algae eating shrimp.

Very strange.

Get him to at elast take out the garbage in Summer every 3 days. The worms won't hatch in that time. Maybe can go a week in Winter.

I don't know what they are. Maybe bring them to a University Entomologist.
