well..im in a christian basketball league, and my team has the habit of praying right before tip-off. there's nothing wrong with it cuz we dont pray for victory..we pray that we can play to the best of our abilities and that no one gets injured and that we enjoy our time in a christian like manner..is that bad?

I think it's great when a team prays before a game. It shows their confidence in an all knowing God.

No one that understands Christianity prays for victory.
They pray for a good game and for the well being of all the players, coaches and fans.

I'm Christian, but I mind my manners.
During my school musical, we all prayed that it would go well before the show.
2 or 3 guys were put off, as they were not Christian.
If everyone is Christian, hey, fine.
If someone in the group is not, just do your own little prayer and be courteous to others.

God is listening to the sports team just as He is listening when our govt. prays for our troops. I would assume they are praying for strength not for a win. I think God doesn't decide who wins or looses

Just like the world governments that pray for their troops during war. God is not listening.

The same thing they think...God Bless them.
There's nothing wrong with that. God gave them the talent, the means and the chance to be on that team playing & praying. That is their blessing. They should give thanks and acknowledge God in everything they do.

Don't they always win? (OK, I'm sure if the opposing team also prays then it's always a tie, right?)

nicely he truthfully listens to the Christians! lol i imagine that God per chance hears your prayers in case you're a non Christian (yet why ought to you pray in case you're literally not a Christian) yet would not answer them. in case you pray to Jesus, you're a Christian. in case you do not pray, you're literally not. i'm particular those people on the communities who are not Christians who "pray" extremely are not praying in any respect. they are purely putting forward the words yet not meaning them.
