Italy is a great place to study abroad? I'm thinking about it and it seems like a good place to study and learn the language instead of stupid old books. I'm going to London and Paris next summer and I want to get a sneak peek of Italy before I come home. I have always wanted to go there and studying seems like the perfect opportunity. What are good cities to go to?

Is it also true that they like African American women? Just wondering lol ^_^

Almost every large city in Italy has a college that supports people to come and learn the language. I am planning on spending my summer there next year so I have looked into some different programs.

Are you looking into getting college credit? If so, you'll want to go to the Study Abroad office at your campus. They are going to have a list of programs in Italy that they accept transfer credit or offer direct credit classes (just like taking a course at your college only you happen to be in another country). Most schools offer three or four places where you can take direct credit courses. If your school doesn't offer direct credit courses for a city that you want to study in look for another program and then talk to the Study Abroad office about the possibility of transfering the credits to your school.

Are you looking for an immersion course where you can learn it quickly and aren't worried about getting credit? If so, you may want to go online and look up immersion programs. Some of my top picks will be listed in the sources section. Immersion courses are a great way to learn a language fast. They are generally placed centrally in a city, they can sometimes be expensive but they will make sure that you leave satisfied with how much you have learned. Most programs offer two to three courses a day in different areas of the language, morning listening, afternoon out in the city trying to talk to locals and the evening doing a written class. They can sometimes be challenging, but many people use them when they need to learn a language quickly for work.

Which cities are good to go to? My top choices are Rome, Perugia, and Bologna. Rome is great because you get study in some of the greatest locations. The problem in Rome, however, is that most people speak english so you may not be forced to use the language when you get into a spot. Perugia is a great choice because it is the location of several Universities. Many american universities send their students here to learn italian. (It's where I'm headed.) It is a great place to go because it has a very fun atmosphere. Bologna is my top choice because I absolutely love it. It is such a beautiful city and there aren't many there that speak English fluently. The programs at the University of Bologna tend to be a little more expensive... but they may be worth it, I just wish my school had a program there.

Don't forget that some schools can also offer you programs of study so that you can continue working on major. If you are a politics major, for instance, you can take a class on the governments of Western Europe and the European Union.

As for whether or not Italians like African American women... you'll have to wait and find out for yourself. Italian men in general love all women. They are a passionate people and they love to show it and share it with foreigners. No matter where you end up in Italy you will love it! It is my favorite place to be in the world, besides home. Good luck and have a wonderful trip to London and Paris, and I hope that you do get a chance to live like the Italians!
Buona fortuna! Ciao!
