contrary to some peoples beliefs, not all Military personel are gone all the time. We still need military to protect our county. It is possible to lead a normal life with spouse and children. There is nothing wrong with women/mothers in the military.

If they are unmarried and without kids, more power to them. If they are single parents, its a great way to have benefits for your child, if you have family they can live with during deployments. But if they have kids and their husband is military also, I think its unnesessary and sad. If my family of 5 can live off my husband's SSGT pay, I know others can too. I'm all for women working, but those first few years of a child's life are so important. I drive by the CDC (military daycare) all the time and see Mothers picking up their kids late in the day. I know military women with a husband that stays home to raise the kids. I think its wonderful that they have chosen that option. As long as one parent is home, I'm not real picky which one it is. I just believe that kids need their parents. And need to know that they are more important than a check. Its tragic if either spouse were to deploy and die, but its very hard to think of a woman killed in action and leaving behind her family forever. Some of those women are highly dedicated and do outstanding work. Others are there to meet a man and it shows. There have been alot that don't take their jobs as seriously as their male counterparts and that jepordizes the entire mission. Not to mention that all a girl has to do to get out of the military is get knocked up (cause they do it all the time). And pregnant girls get taken off deployment rotations. Its not fair to the males that serve proudly, or the fathers having to deploy, knowing they'll not be their for their own child's birth. I'm all for serving your country. I just think that its not always the best if a woman is doing it.

well i used to be in the military until i got pregnant. i just couldnt bear the thought of leaving my child when i deployed. and my husband is also in the military so if we both deployed at the same time, neither of us would be there for the child. i just couldnt do it. i have a friend who is in the military and she is a single parent. i have the utmost respect for her, i know that it is extremely hard and one must be really emotionally strong to do it. being a soldier is a tough job, when you add being a mother to that, its even harder.

That's one way to destroy their children's lives... losing their mother for a war she should have never gone to fight in. I don't mind women in the military if they haven't had kids yet or they aren't going away to fight. I feel a child NEEDS their mother to be well adjusted.
