Check out Dreams by Renee; they have some absolutely gorgeous dresses PLUS they do custom work, if needed, at extremely reasonable prices! I'm an authorized rep and, if you are interested, I am able to cut the prices on most of the dresses.

Let me know I can be of any assistance. Good luck!

It depends on a lot of things. You could have a dress made for almost any price, or buy one for almost any price. I did a lot of research on having my dress made before I stumbled on the right one. What I found was that you can go to a discount store like David's Bridal, or you can find one on a sale rack - those tend to be the cheapest. Then, you can get one made by a seamstress - if it is a pretty simple design they can also be really cheap.

If you want a lot of stuff on your dress - designs, jewels, sequins - it will most likely be much cheaper to get a dress from a store, because a seamstress will have to sew all that on by hand. Another thing to keep in mind - a seamstress or dress maker will be much cheaper than hiring a designer. I'm not sure why this is true, but it's just what I found.

I would say that even if you are going to get your dress made and you have a clear idea of what you want, you should go to at least one bridal salon and try on dresses. I thought that I wanted a simple, plain dress but in the end it was the really pretty decorated ones I liked more once I saw them on me.

Good luck!

Are you talking a designer? If not, buy off rack. You can see style on you & have it altered to fit perfectly. You are not neccessarily looking for cheaper, but best price for nice dress. Cheaper is a Thrift Store.

It depends on what you want. If you want a giant dress with tons of fabric and detailing it might be cheaper to buy it. If you would prefer a simpler design it might be cheaper to have it made. It also depends on the seamstress or designer.

Buy one off the rack is cheaper. Davids Bridal will tell you that.

i had mine made. it was only $200
but that all depends on where you go.
i was in europe at the time and found all the materials there too. so with the purchase of the materials and the labor it added up to close to $300. but it was worth it. i loved it.
my sister had hers made in arizona. and it was 1,000.
i know someone who won her dress.
so it all depends. i think you should shop around for your dress. see what kinda prices they have. see if you like any. if not then find out how much it would be to make one. making one could be a lot of fun.

I found my dress in a magazine. Went to a boutique to try it on saw the price tag and found Discount Bridal Service online and saved about $150 on my dress. This was 5yrs ago so I don't know if they still exist.

My dress was only 400 dollars canadian and it is by FAR better than anything that could have been made. Only because there is so much bead work etc, it would have cost way more for a semstress to do it all by hand.

Off the rack would be cheaper because fabric can be costly.

really all depends it can cost just as much to make one depending on the material and things you put in the details. Sometimes Davids Bridal has those $99 sales so you could look into that.
