I know that Polack jokes are really popular with some people, but I really don't get it. How did the dumb Pole stereotype come about?

Because people don't know how to pronounce Polish.

Seriously, you have to remember that for centuries the Poles were getting kicked by everybody. First the Mongols and the Tatars. Then the Prussians, Germans, the Austrians and the Russians. The Poles were subjugated so many times that the word 'Slav' became 'slave'. Who knows who first started using them as the butt of jokes...?

I think it all depends on where you live. I live in Central Califonia and lived in Southern Texas we rarely hear any Polack jokes. I think those jokes are more common in the East coast.

They probably don't make sense to young people. They started during World War II when Poland was so easily overrun by Germany. Others made jokes about them and they stuck. It's like telling the popular wimpy French jokes 60 year from now-- provided the French change their ways by then.

OK maybe because they don't know how to spell or that they don't make much sense but why does it matter are you upset about fat, blond, stupid, yo momma, or any of the other 3 billion jokes that are stereotypes? Ohh and they are really funny he he
