Like when I join a gym, or weight watchers, or curves, I feel like that is money I'm taking from my family. I just don't have the will power it takes to get this weight off. I just failed at fasting, I have failed at every fad diet. Has anyone lost the weight and was it this hard and how did you do it?

Yes, after I had my first child I felt the exact same way.

Luckily for me, my husband gained at least 50 pounds of sympathy weight during my pregnancy too and we worked out together and lost the weight.

Working out with my spouse also helped the issue of eating healthier foods. Since he wanted to lose weight, he had to accept the chicken salad dinners instead of his usual fast food meals.

Please don't fast, it just slows down your metabolism and makes it harder to lose weight down the line.

I too suffer from Mommy Guilt when I want to do something for myself. I cure this by thinking about other women I care for.

I ask myself if I would want my mother, sister or daughter to have the very thing I want. Would you want your loved one to feel free to be healthy, work out and live a longer and more satisfying life? If so, you are entitled to it as well. Sometimes, as moms, we tend to expect less for ourselves than we want for those we are closest too.

Besides, how can you drive other people around if you don't put gas in your own tank! You deserve so much!

Hope this helps.

I did weight watchers but could not afford the meetings either. They have cookbooks and everyone in the family liked the food. It is really good - you'll lose the weight. Not fast but you don't WANT to lose too fast or you'll gain it back. You just aren't going to get weighed in front of people, etc. It's not necessary to have a "group" or buy special foods. The food is healthy, you get full ....I lost weight 3 years ago and have kept it off by eating Healthy Choices for lunch everyday - being fairly good - and eating what I want on weekends - not depriving myself. I am also over 40 years old.

Im doing weight watchers right now on my own w/out going to the meetings. and i think its one of the better diets out there. however i am experiencing a "plateau"right now and i dont like that but mostly it does work.

u shouldnt feel guilty about taking care of yourself, dont you think your kids deserve a happy/healthy mom?

you cannot properly care for your family if you are not properly caring for yourself... the time and money you use to care for your physical and emotional health ensure you will have a long healthy life with your family.

bad physical and emotional health can result in you becoming a burden to your family as your grow older and more unhealthy or worst of all... you do not live to watch your family grow and have families of their own.

by taking time to care for yourself you are enhancing their time with you and setting a good example for them.

you are worth it.
