There isn't a difference when downloading the files - they're just data files - but there is a difference when you want to play them on your computer. For example with AVI files you usually need to download a codec like DivX or Xvid to watch them, MOV files are played using Quicktime, and MPEGs can be played using Windows Media Player. This is because they have different encoding formats. You can find out more at www.videohelp.com.

different players play different formats. Depending on the audio sample rate, video quality and frame rate settings, some can be better than others. Your windows media player should be able to play all except .mov. .mov is reserved for quicktime and can usually only be played within its player. A good all around player for some divx (avi) files is BSPlayer Pro.

Some computers only accept a certain type of format (eg, .avi, .mov, .mpg, .mpeg, etc.). Plus some formats are exceptionally better and hi-tech than others.
