How can I quickly close a specified list of programs?

A freeware/ shareware application and link would be much appreciated. I need to close about 12 programs each time before I game to maximize performance.

don't know of freeware
but create a batch(commands file) to run in dos

try 'kill ' where process id is the id to the application running
however the process id changes everytime it's loaded. need to program to find the process id , a bit tricky. try http://developershed.com for coding help- may find code to use

did you try right clicking on the task bar and closing the group?
