Ok, first of all, you can't get it by kissing him. HOWEVER, you can get it through intercourse. There is nothing that "controls" genital herpes to the point where it will prevent infection. Current medications only control outbreaks. Herpes cells can still shed in between outbreaks, making it EXTREMELY contagious. I would instruct both of you to go to your health professional (ie. a DOCTOR) and have that person explain this to you. If he is claiming that it is under control and not contagious, he should be educated to ensure he does not spread it to future partners, and you should educate yourself about all common STDs to prevent yourself from contracting any. Remember, all information presented to a health professional is confidential, regardless of age, so you have nothing to fear from taking this approach.

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.
Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

First of all, you can get it anytime... It's at a higher risk when there is an outbreak, but he was lying when he said you only get it then. Fever blisters are a type of herpes... I don't know about the kissing thing exactly, but I just wanted to clear you up on when this disease could be contracted.

It seems like it may be too late for you if you buy into what he says about it being controlled .
