Is it legal to have license plates in the rear window of your cAR?

No, it is not. You have a special place that is designed for the license plate. You might drive like that for a while, but one cop who has nothing to do will stop you and will give you ticket. It wight be a "fix it" ticket, but you'll edn up going to court and paying $10-20 anyway.

As long as the plate is visible to the naked eye no.....unless your rear bumper has been ripped off or you do not have a location to attache the license plate I wouldn't recommend it.

States require your rear tag to be lighted. They don't meet that requirement in the rear window.
