Or does it contain too much water? Any ideas on how to get around this? It's a long walk to the store. Thanks!

You shoud be fine with the margarine, so long as it isn't the soft spreadable kind that comes in a tub

I have been trying new ways to make biscuits for the last 3 days and yes you can use butter in the place of shortening. My luck at biscuits haven't been that well.

Margarine is a type of shortening. But it won't work exactly the same as Crisco, for instance. Your results might not be what you expect, but it should work fairly well.

I personally wouldn't...Shortening is very different than margarine.

I have done so, when I was short of shortenning (pun not intended). It actually came out pretty good!
