i have been out of school for over twenty years now, but it sounds like they are still serving the same food as when i attended. under federal guidelines schools are required to meet the minimal standards of nutritional values.

I am a teacher and I can explain just a bit of my understanding.
The school lunch is very healthy, and it has all it supplement diet.
Yes I agree those hamburgers are nasty, and hard, but that is because they take all the fat away and is pure beef without fat. The cheeses also are taken away the fat.
before these lunches are serve, there is an inspection done.
I know it is not the best food, to eat, there you can't have it your way like you do in McDonald's or Burger King.
But eat what you can and don't stay hungry, it doesn't feel good when you take a test with an empty stomach.

Fresh produce is always better over frozen or canned. Prepackaged meals are the least healthy. Meats should be kept to a minimum regardless of kind. Rice, potatoes, and pastas should also be kept to a minimum as they are rich in carbohydrates and convert to sugars. Fish that have scales is the only fish that should be considered as other fish have tendencies to hold dumped ocean mercury. Having metallic poison has taught me alot - it is hard to find good farmer's markets in America as you can't count on the what kind of soil and fertilizer has been used, but the more fresh fruits and vegetables you can eat, the better you will feel overall - however, you do need protein, so meat two or tree times a week and protein substitutes are important.

The food is not too bad.
More importantly. Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, disobeyed your parents. These are just 3 of God's moral laws. The Bible tells us that when we die, then God will judge us by His moral laws. We have all sinned and broken God's moral laws, and if you are not born-again, God will send you to Hell to be punished forever. God made a way for us to be forgiven for our Sins. Jesus Christ died on a cross and rose again to take our punishment and pay the debt for our sins. We must Repent, which means to ask God to forgive you for sinning and turn away from sin. Then put your complete Trust in Jesus Christ. Only then will you be accepted into Heaven, not because your a good person, but because you're a bad person who's been Forgiven.

It used to be all cardboard burgers and crap here in Northern Ireland, but it has seriously improved with an emphasis on fresh food and healthy eating. Some schools even monitor what the children eat to make sure they don't consume junk food on a daily basis.

Yes. I care about the catagory. And I doubt most people who are looking in the religion and spirituality catagory really care about school food. Thanks, but no thanks.
Love, Samuel.

Probably, unless the food is organic and the bread and pasta is 100% whole wheat and the potatoes are sweet potatoes. Bring your own lunch.

Obviously the schools aren't just failing at teaching nutrition, but spelling and grammar as well. You certainly prove that point.
