I would bathe her inside in the kitchen sink, you will have more control of her. And the best thing to use would be baby wash or baby shampoo..it's tear free and GENTLE..I would not buy dog shampoo just yet, unless u find a PUPPY shampoo, which is hard to find. And make sure u dry her well!
But it probably would be wise to take her to the vet for shots, and let the vet bathe her..lot safer

I would think it would be ok, make sure the water is lukewarm, and bath the dog inside.
Use dog shampoo or baby shampoo (the Johnson and Johnson stuff or target has a generic for $1). I would stick to these because some shampoos can remove their flea treament. (If the puppy hasn't had any flea treatment yet, it might be ok to use a gentle human shampoo, something simple without like say color treatment or extra moisture, just like a plain sauve or something.)
Also, a dog "bath" is really more of a shower. You can use your shower, or the kitchen sink will probably work well since the puppy is so little (plus if you have one of those spray things it will make it easier). Just cover up with a towel and keep your food closed and away from the sink lol!
My tips are: be gentle, keep the shampoo away from their eyes/mouth/nose, and careful with the water around those areas too. Other then that you'll be all set. To clean out their ears, try a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol. When you're done, make sure to dry the dog fully, try a hair dryer on a lower setting or a cool setting - just don't let the lil' guy overheat.

Of course you can give her a bath. When I first got my baby chihuahua (she was six weeks old), I gave her a bath with a shampoo called Baby Dog Shampoo- it works great. My vet also recommend baby shampoo which is less expensive and works just as good. Its easier to give them a bath in the sink because they are so small (especially since she is only 6 weeks)- also be sure to wrap her up really good after wards that way she doesn't get cold. Good Luck!! :)

I have 2 Chihuahuas and yes they get baths. No harm in it, just make sure she doesn't get cold. When you're done dry her off in a towel and make sure she doesn't shiver. As for human shampoo....I do reccommend buying a shampoo for dogs. There are many different kinds on the market. I have been told in the past that baby shampoos are okay for dogs as well. I know my dogs always feel better after having a bath on a hot day. They don't like the bathtub....but act as if it was worth it when they are all done. LOL.

Sure u can give her a bath ,your chihuahua is probably very small so be very careful, go to store and get puppy shampoo unless she's got fleas. If she has fleas go to the vet. Anyway, after u get the puppy shampoo get in the tub with her she will be very scared. Put the water on luke warm. Make sure you wash her all over. Dry here completly with a towel.

Of course! I had a chihuahua! His name was Prince Rogers Nelson-Jackson. He lived to be 13. He was the best! I bathed him once a month! I would put him in the bathtub! And I towel dried him! So, YES! You can bathe a chihuahua! No dont use human shampoo! And why he dirty at 6 weeks! Why do you think he needs it already? He is so small; you could use a little tub! Nice luke warm water! But at six weeks, he shouldnt be that dirty...................

you can bathe the dog, just make sure of the following:
- use Dog Shampoo, coz it's made to be safe for their eyes, human shampoo burns / hurts at best, damages eyes at worst
- use warm water, run it first and test it, it should be "your" showering temperature, at this point, turn it down towards the cool direction a notch, then it's just right.
- keep a big, dry, clean towel spread out on a flat surface nearby , as soon as the dog is rinsed off, put him/her on the towel, they get the idea fast and start rolling around on it (playing-ish) which gives you a chance to rub them vigorously with the rest of the towel. Guarantees they are atleast 80% dry and won't catch cold.
- keep some dog treats handy, after they are dry, next step *must be* the dog treats (or a meal).
That's it. Blowdryers work faster but the sound drives them nearly insane, plus it the heat hurts dogs with short hair (like your chiuaua) coz their skin is sensitive to the heat.

you can give him a bath, just make sure to dry him off really well because even in warm weather, they can still catch a chill. be careful around his eyes and ears as you don't want to get water or shampoo in them. Dog shampoo is the best, but you can use baby shampoo on dogs and it sometimes smells better than dog shampoo. Don't use regular human shampoo for you Chi though, it is too harsh for his skin. Most of all have fun! many dogs are affraid of bats, but if you make it a fun experience for him (but some toys in th abth too) then he will be more willing to have a bath.
good luck!

Regardless of what kind of puppy it is, it needs to have a shot for distemper before it is bathed. You can give the puppy the shot yourself.. they are available at your local feed stores, and its really easy to do.\
You can use human shampoo on them.. although it may dry out its puppy skin. My mom bathes her chihuahua in the kitchen sink (the kind with one of those spray nozzle things on the side).
