No, God is not a gift from the emperor to one of his fallen soldier's children. That would indicate that the emperor existed before God.

I suppose, though, that an emperor could have taught this child the Holy Bible - the word of God. This lesson could be a gift if it included the teachings of Jesus Christ.

I can think of no better gift than to provide these teachings of Jesus Christ - a gift of salvation.
