A very close friend of mine just found out shes pregnant and I want to gift her something, just like a congratulations gift. I don't want to get her something too expensive coz I will be throwing her a real nice baby shower. She just bought some good pregnancy books and a pregnancy journal so thats out. Does anyone have any suggestions please. Thanks!

Well, I wouldn't want to give her anything that suggests babies or pregnancy for the simple reason that if something should happen during the nine months that it might be very difficult and painful to look back on. Maybe a simple yellow rose in a bud vase would be nice to designant either boy or girl....or even a simple "thinking of you" card. These days you really have to be careful....I don't mean to sound negative, but when I get really excited that someone is pregnant and then down the road find out that they miscarried....I feel really bad!

"Houseitch" is right....just be her friend....save your money...You can SPEND at and for the shower!

Well, I found some great and unique gifts at the hospital gift shop. They have some really neat and personal type gifts. Plus get her a special card or make her one.

Check out www.breezybeachwear.com and click on "apparel." Look for the logo that says "mommy's little beach bum," and order her an infant T in the color pink, blue, or white or yellow if they don't know what the sex will be yet. It's a great gift site!

A goodie basket filled with prg. necessities: Crackers, sprite, hard candy, chocolate, pickles, dairy queen gift cert.: whatever sort of things she would like. Shouldn't be too pricey, and you can fix it up really nice with ribbon, etc. Don't forget to include some barf bags (if your friend has a good sense of humor)

How about a gift card to a store that sells nice maternity clothes, so when she's ready for them, she can buy what she likes, and her first "Mommy" shirt can be from you.
