I suffer from migraines but i never get a headache, just visual effects. But the past two days I have shooting pains every once and awhile on the side of my head. Does anyoneknow why??

a migraine without headache is called acephalgic, or "ocular" migraine. You need to get yourself checked out to rule out any blood vessel or ocular problems.

Occasionally people with acephalgic migraine get very sharp classic migraine, though shooting pains are definitely the sign of something else. Go to a doctor ASAP.

May be a form of migraine called "cluster" headaches. More common in men. Treatable. I'd see a doctor promptly.

perhaps you have been under extra stress, or changed your diet recently. Or sleept in a way that cricked your neck, basically it could be a million reasons, I agree with everyone else, stop looking at the computer screen ( another possible reaon) and go get it checked out.

It could stem from your vision problems. Have your eyes checked first. If there is no problem consult your physician
