I went to a foot doctor once and they "burned" it off with a probe that was chilled with liquid nitrogen..... It was an ingrown wart and it did not remove all of it. ($135 for the doctor visit) A couple weeks later when I realized it was not totally gone I went to the grocery store and bought some dry ice. I carefully placed a sharp piece of dry ice against the wart, exactly how the doctor had done with the nitrogen probe and "burned" it off at home ...... I was careful only to touch the wart and not the surrounding skin. The intense cold basically froze the tissue and it turned white. after several days or a week the skin was dead and flaked off. The idea is to kill enough skin to take away the wart... but not so much that it harms the muscle tissue, etc..... have fun with the dry ice....
Another way is to use the "grater" that is made for sanding your feet and removinglots of dead skin. just keep grating the skin every day until it almost bleeds.... then stop... this is used for ingrown warts

Put a piece of duct tape on it and leave it alone.

It acts as an irritant and stimulates your body's immune response. Usually works. This is the same way that freezing them works, but it's cheaper, and it doesn't HURT. There's medical evidence. See source. DON'T USE ON PLANTAR WARTS (the ones that come on the bottom of your feet) or venereal warts (the ones "you know where").

There is an old wive's tale of putting duct tape over the wart. Don't know if it works, but you can try it. Either that or seek medical advice

An old trick is to put duck tape over them. You can go to the foot doctor and get some acid like stuff and you put it on three times a day and they will go away. It acutally works!

I suppose the other person meant liquid nitrogen. More readily available in doctors' offices is the hyfrocater, a small electic needle that burns them off after a local anesthetic.
