I am on a blind date this Friday. My mate set it up from a girl from his workplace I have never been on a blind date before - as you guess I'm very nervous. Even on night outs I find it hard to chat up girls to break the ice, if I know them as a friend it's easier. We are going for a drink, but what do I say? What do I do? Any advice would help.

I to find it difficult (actually impossible) to chat up girls. However I can see some advantage in the blind date.
1. You do not have the painful chatting up experience just trying to get the girl to consider letting you buy her a drink. That has already been sorted.
2. You know nothing about each other so can spend a lot of time simply finding out about each other, what you do and what your interests are.
3. This person is not yet a friend so if it all goes terribly wrong you have only wasted one evening and the cost of a few drinks. There is no "failure is not an option". It is just a night out. Go out there and try to enjoy it. If it leads to more dates in future, wonderful. If not then it has at least been another learning experience.

Ok listen to me very carefully because yes i've been on a blind date before.
First dress nice and clean. Meaning cleanly shaven in your best clothes. Wash your car. This will give her a good first impression of you. Girls always judge you immediately from when they first lay eyes on you, this may make or break the date.
Second, when you meet her, just be yourself. Don't be nervous, she's just as nervous to meet you too. Just relax and talk to her. Ask her things you would ask a person you were just meeting for the firsttime. Things she likes to do, about her job, things like that. Make eye contact with her and pay attention to what she is saying. From there get her number and if you liked her then call her again to set up another date. Trust me man, u can do this, I was nervous too but it went fine and i ended up dating her for 5 months! one more thing, remeber chivalry...opening the car door for her, pulling the seat out for her when she sits down....be a gentleman!

Did you see movie "Hitch" with Will Smith?
It is a good one for you to check out, and I am serious.
Just be yourself, talk about yourself first. Tell her who you are, where you are from, what you do, what you like, where you been. But do it slow, gradually, let your partner speak up. LISTEN what she says. Slow down. It should go fine. Make sure you have try palms of your hands. It is very important when you shake hands you keep it dry.
But seriously, check out the "Hitch". It will give you the clues.

The best way to get to know someone is get them to talk about themselves. Ask does she like movies, books, music, etc. Listen to what she says and this will give you an idea of her tastes and if you and her have anything in common. Relax and be yourself, have a great time!

Very stressful! Don't try to be someone you're not. Be yourself. If you get awkward moments with no chat then you probably not going to get on. Not everyone does. Basics are easy. Wash and make sure you smell good.

Be cool, just act as if she were a friend, first find out about her, her lkes dislikes, and once you get into it the conversation will go from there, and if something embarrassing happens laugh it off and keep going, she will admire that.

Just be yourself, act normal because if you are toally nervous the other person will be able to tell.
