I gave the same drills to another person. Get your volleyball and stand about a foot or two away from a wall, with your feet planted at a regular stance (parallel to your shoulders). Continuously set the ball to the wall, setting it at least eight feet into the air each time it comes down, but stay in the same spot. Another drill is lay on the ground, (like sit-up position) and have someone stand behind you (their feet about a foot away from your head. They will have the ball and gently drop it above your head. Have your hands at the ready and set it back up to them. The two drills will help you control and keep your sets constant.
Get with a teammate who is good and practice peppering, a sort of bump, set, spike drill. It will help you change positions quickly, from setting your teammate's bump to you, or practicing setting up by bumping to the right place.
Or, if your problem is positioning, you need to make sure that when you go to set the ball, you are completely under the ball and your hands are positioned in a way that your hands are tilted toward each other, and your your index fingers and thumbs make a triangle, and you set with your fingertips, not your palms. To practice, you can try to use only your thumbs, index, and middle fingers to get used to the motion.
Setters mostly always get second ball, so be alert at all times. Don't be scared of being a ballhog, because it's your job. Be ready for the balls that hit the net, because setters are usually the people that play off the net.
I'm only 5'1, and I'm also a setter. But, don't let height fool you, short people can tip and hit...no lie. If you're not comfortable with setting, maybe you should talk your coach into letting you be a defense specialist. If you're a hitter, you can even do backrow hitting.

um first of your not modest at all are you? secondly i am SO sorry that you are only 5'7...especially when there are people like me playing volleyball and setting a 5'2. and guess what? i am not growing anymore either! so stop complaining ok? good. now setter tips, check out this link for some tips that i don't feel like writing
http://www.ehow.com/tips_17295.html
also a great tip is on a volleyball there are brackets when you set it make sure that all of your fingers touch and are about the width apart like the bracket. also always push up from your legs unless you are doing a 1 set. when you set the ball make sure that if you let the ball drop it would hit you square on the forehead. this is easier to explain with a visual example, but i tried. i hope this helps and good luck with your tall self. :)

I surely have a three 12 months previous Irish setter and he or she is calm and smart (techniques u she became a huge puppy til about 6 months in the past, she needs a stroll on a daily basis (like the different canines) and a large run a cpl of situations a week, and he or she loves loves likes to swim. She has an exquisite temperment and is humorous and smart (she leads me to the refrigerator and sits beside it even as she needs a bone). i imagine Irish Setters are great canines. i imagine the English setter is alluring and ought to like to get one, yet they're very difficult to locate the position I stay so i do not recognize alot about them

OMG the same exact thing happened to me except I am just a little over 5'7" I am about 5'8" but I had to become a setter too. Remember setters must be quick, have a lot of control and must be very vocal. They are usually the team leader because they make the plays.

Well, I'm not the best setter on my team either but, I've heard at every single volleyball camp that when setting, don't just use you're arms, bend your knees a little and stand up whenever the ball hits the pads of your fingertips. Practice hard and put your heart into it and, you'll be fine!BeSt oF LuCk!

Get the form down, and then do it all the time. Once you start doing it over and over, it comes more naturally every time. I played for two years and I didn't get it for a year, and although i was a left front in the second year, all of my friends couldn't beleive I wasn't the starting setter.

RELAX!!! and have fun...when you're a setter you have to keep calm. you're basically running the court.
you don't have to be tall to be a setter- i'm only 5'4.
tips:
-make sure you practice EVERY day- even on weekends.
-make sure you know your footwork. (end with a left, right every time)
-and use your legs when you set.
-talk to your hitters- ask them how they like to be set...and remember what they say.
-as you set knda relax your hands- they don't have to be really stiff.
-be quick to the ball

sry i don't have more time to put all my tips down....

good luck!!!!!

5'7 is not short especially for a girl. but anyway, i used to set for high school and i practice by setting with a basketball against a wall. the basketball is bigger and heavier than a volleyball so it helped me strenthen my wrist and then i switched to a volleyball and did the same. you either have the skills to set or you dont. you cant push it

When the ball comes put your hands in a triangular form above your forehead and hit it with your fingertips and hit it up and over instead of down and out.:)
