I would think it's just a rumor. Because the aspirin has to be absorbed into your bloodstream to take effect. And I don't think that by rubbing it onto skin will allow enough of the aspirin to be absorbed.

The active ingredients on an aspirin have the ability to manipulate the prostaglandines and thromboxanes. That is they supress the transmission of pain to the brain. So unless you put those ingredients in your blood flow there is no way they are getting to the brain. Your body won't let them in.

Definitely a rumor. Unlike benzocaine or lidocaine or other anesthetics that work topically, aspirin works by irreversibly acetylating enzymes in your cells that create inflammatory mediators. That is, it works at the cellular level and not topically. So I doubt you'd have any success with this.

Aspirin, as with most tablet forms of medication, must be ingested orally...very little to near zero of this drug can be absorbed into your system through your skin!!! So..swallow those tablets and save the creams, lotions, gels, ointments, and salves for the skin conditions they're made for!
GOOD LUCK!!!

I don't know; you could just try it to find out. Heating pads are good, if you have one. Definately, if you eat the aspirin it would help the pain.
