Did you know that there is a place for questions about food? I like the really dark stuff though, around 70%. I had some that was about 90% one time...too dark! I don't like white chocolate at all. I really don't even know why they named it chocolate to start with.

anything over 50% as below that you are eating pure vegetable fat added to a bit of chocolate however the higher the % of cocoa solid the more bitter the chocolate becomes most people compromise at 60 or 70%.
Chocolate in the UK and US is generally 40% or less and legally cannot be described as chocolate as it is more of something other than chocolate than chocolate in the same way 9carat Gold cannot legally be called Gold (however in the UK and USA they still do).
European chocolate is 60 or 70% as a basic starting point.

Sunny AM is right: it's around 70-75%. I love milk chocolate, but it's not as good for your health. But higher than 75 is too bitter - I heard a specialist say that.

It depends on your definition of "best", but I read recently that chocolate that is at least 60% pure has beneficial effects on health. Its also good to remember that the higher the percentage the less wax you are getting. Who wants to eat chocolate colored wax?? LOL

70 to 75 (more and it's a bit too bitter )less than 60 is only good enough for cooking not for degustation

70% or higher - 60% can be pretty good too.
