And who do I have to pay off?

Your questions are too funny by half. (But there was a rumour in the 70s that you could buy a Stairway to Heaven. )

You already know the answer: money doesn't get you into Heaven.

You can't pay anyone off, because your soul can't be redeemed with cash, check, or plastic (silly Hoggle).

Have fun tweaking people. Makes them think, donchaknow.

Sorry... you can't buy your way into heaven from here on earth, and you can't 'take it with you'. Not to worry, though... you will be paid when it is your time to be judged.

I clearly remember a sermon by Father Guido Sarducci, in which he explained how when you arrive at the Pearly Gates, St. Peter pays you (in actual money - something like $1.25) for each day that you spent on earth. Then, in a heavenly 'accounting', you have to 'pay for your sins'... literally.

He explained in great detail how you are able to 'pay' for trivial sins quite easily (e.g.: masturbation - 25 cents; white lie - $1); but the major sins can be quite costly, like murder - $1,000.

If you were able to 'pay' for all of your sins, you get to go on directly to heaven. If not, the unpaid balance is carried as a debt... and you are sent back to earth for another life, and you repeat this cycle until you are finally able to "pay for your sins."

It occurs to me that this might be where the idea of 'karma' comes from.

As an aside, he took note that really bad people, like mafioso, may easily accumulate an unpayable debt over the course of a single lifetime, such that it might take them several exemplary lifetimes as a Catholic nun before they are finally able to pay their way into heaven.

He concluded by saying that based on this, he had figured out that most Catholic nuns are, in fact, former mafioso.

Make the last step you take in this life be the first step you take into the luxury of "Heavenly Estates". Why spend eternity floating on a cloud when, for 10% of your income while here on Earth, you could reside in a Huge white marble, gold trimmed mansion with cherubim taking care of your every need? Act today, the end is near and a two year minimum payment is needed to guarantee your place in" Heavenly Estates".

Money doesn't work in Heaven, all it takes is to be a good person, know right from wrong, If you are a good person in this life, you will go to Heaven, if you are a bad person you will pay the consequences.! I just hope that when I get to heaven, they don't put me to work, I'm tired of working, I am tired of the rat race, aahhhh, retirement.

Spending eternity in Heaven is a free gift. Your admittance was already paid by Jesus Christ who took the sins of the world for all times on himself and chose to love the world even those who despise him.

You must chose to accept that love and believe in him and the power of the Resurrection to receive that gift.

Then get plugged into a good church. The Christian walk is not a solo one, and every Christian needs to surround themselves with other believers so they can grow spiritually.

Salvation is completely free, but will cost you everything. Money will not get you into Heaven.

Giving depends on the spirit behind it. If you are a billionaire and give away millions of dollars, it means less than if you have 1 loaf of bread and that is all and break it to share with others.

God loves a cheerful giver.

The MOST you can spend is nothing. Salvation is a free gift and cannot be bought be legal tender, it is really expensive. Dont try a cheap commodity like gold, it costs the presious blood of Jesus

See the story of someone who tried ot buy the Holy Spirit, similar idea. Simon the Magician. Simon is told by the very act of trying to pay off Peter his heart was not right and was still in his sins and needed to call on God to be saved. This is in the book of Acts

yet people try all the time to buy off God dont they. In fact buyin indulgances was the flash point of the Protestant Reformation. You really cannot add to the work of Jesus on the cross for your salvation.

You can't outigve God and trying to pay God off if like scoffing on the mercies and free gift of grace on the cross.

Think of it this was. Jesus said
The Son of Man has not come to be served but to serve and give his life a ransom for many. Jesus is the one paying the ransom, Jesus is the one serving the sinner.
Don't try and do the job Jesus is supposed to do, you cant do it.

and there;s the rub... WE try and serve God where we should let God serve us

Isaiah 64:4
From of old no one has heardor perceived by the ear,no eye has seen a God besides you,who acts for those who wait for him.

God acts on behalf of believers and in some important sense serves them as they lean on Him and trust Him

In response to God's love and mercies to us we love others, we have the trust that we can rely on God to serve others in love

The nice thing is the price has already been paid. Long ago---and all it took was three nails, a crown of thorns and one very rugged cross. Oh yeah---and one willing sacrifice. You can't buy heaven cos it just isn't for sale. You are bought with a price however. It cost Christ EVERYTHING HE HAD in this lifetime. Many came and tried to purchase that glorious thing and Jesus sent them packing. His grace is sufficient. Mansions---who cares---shacks----couldn't care less----streets of gold hold no hypnotic effect for me---for there is one face I long to see----the one face who paid the price for me. So--how much does it cost to get to heaven.....???? It costs you one moment of realization that God's GRACE is sufficient to meet that need. Peace to you and yours. Love overflowing, pressed down, shaken together and overflowing.

If you think you're going to buy your way into Heaven, you are in for a rude awakening. Only the righteous shall see God.
