Statistically, I feel confident that there are others, somewhere. Whether they are sentient, like us, or they are more like sea cucumbers, who knows?
But...I'm sure we aren't the only ones. It wouldn't make logical sense.

I am reading a book right now called Parallel Worlds. It is great. The guy that writes this has papers on his sight that goes over this kind stuff based on physics and such. You should check it out. There is no way that there is no other life in this universe. I mean come on. And if any religious freaks out there think otherwise just remember back to when the church put people in prison for saying the earth was round and that the earth was not the center of the universe.

Well, the probablility of evolution happening even once is even higher than the number of stars, ect.... The idea of it happening twice is preposterous. So if there is life out there, it would point to a creator.
But we don't know that life has evolved here either. There are tons of logical, scientific evidences against the idea of evolution. I won't go into them now, but here is a list of books that give some of the stuff...
-Evolution: A Theory in Crisis, by Michael Denton
-It Couldn't Just Happen, by Lawrence O. Richards
-What Darwin Didn't Know, by Geoffrey Simmons
-Darwins Black Box, by Michael Behe
-Reason in the Balance: The Case Against Naturalism in Science, Law, and education, by Phillip E. Johnson
-Uncommon Dissent: Intellectuals Who Find Darwinism Unconvincing, by William Dembski
-The Lie: Evolution, by Ken Ham
-Refuting Evolution, by Jonathan Sarfati
-Evolution: The Fossils Say No!, by Gish
-Evolution: The Fossils Still Say No!, again by Gish but it is the revised edition.
-The Revised and Expanded Answers Book, by Ken Ham
-That Their Words May be Used Against Them, by ???
-Genetic Entropy and the Mystery of the Genome, by ???
-Refuting Compromise, by ??? (I think this one is more for Christians with religious arguments)
-Godless, by Ann Coulter
And if God created, he did it to show his glory, to show how powerful he is. Why not do it, if you can do anything?

I think there is a very good reason God created all of those planets. Perhaps He has a plan for them and maybe we'll be a big part of it in the afterlife.
Also, no, I don't think we are alone in this universe. The bible talks about creatures that are nothing like the ones here on earth.(mainly in revelations)

The odds certainly are in favor of life being elswhere in the universe aren't they? However, IF life does exist on another planet then it exists because God the Creator made it so.

the universe is the size it is because it suits God's needs. did he put life on other planets? perhaps. did he put them out of our reach intentionally, almost certainly. as for evolution, the hardcore evidence is that when conditions change, animals become extinct. that's what had become of 99% of all the creatures that ever existed. If that THEORY was correct one would expect a better survival rate.

planets, stars, bugs, types of grasses, fishes, humans...
...Are you so limited and narrow minded you will question God's intentions for creating multiple planets and universe's? WOW! By the Drake equation on the SETI website, it is unlikely that there is no semblance of life out there, but intelligent life is few and far between (if at all)... assuming we call ourselves intelligent.

Current thinking is, with numbers like that , there is high probability that other planets support life of some kind & downright arrogant to think we arethe only life in the universe.
I go with evolution. ..science based rather than faith based.

Only you on most Saturday nights. Get a life, get a new haircut, get some new threads and brush your teeth with clorox. Make yourself presentable, get outside and mingle with the rest of the other life forms.

I should say not! There are more than 100 billion galaxies each with roughly 100 billion stars. When you have stars and galaxies you are never alone.
