Why do women wear pounds of makeup???

I don't wear make up on a daily basis. I only wear it for special occasions. I like to wear eyeliner and mascara, no eyeshadow. All I do is accent the features God gave me. I have auburn hair, dark brown eyes and dark skin. I am always getting compliments on how I look.

Women who wear pounds of makeup usually aren't happy with their natural looks. It has a lot to do with insecurity.

From what I've gathered, light skin and large eyes are part of the standard image of beauty around here. A lot of little girls probably grow up thinking there's a certain kind of look they should be emulating, and then there's the whole idea of peer pressure and trying to fit in. This is how it works in any society. Either from youth, or somewhere else along the line, a person might start substituting their personal sense of aesthetics with whatever seems to be trendy or popular. In UAE and Kuwait, it just happens to be makeup. Somewhere else, it might be plastic surgery, or hair length/colour, or weight, etc.... Of course, for some people, it's nothing more than a matter of taste.

Some women learn how to put make-up on at an early age and when you get so used to it you can't stop because not wearing make-up is not normal to you, it is hard to not wear it after doing so for a long period of time.

Who cares if someone wants to wear tons of makeup? I know it doesn't look that great to wear a ton of it but in the end, it makes them feel better so who are we to judge?
It works both ways too. I see plenty of bare faced women who would look waaayyy better if they put some on.

Smoe women wear pounds of make up. Not all and the ones that do wear alot of make up usually think that they are ugly and they feel like they need make up and they dont have confidence in themselves about the way that they look or anything.

Because they have extremely low self-esteem. But I must say, I am one woman out of millions who don't wear an ounce of makeup! Why should I mess up my skin with the crap that they come out with to put on your face?

I think because they want to feel better about themselves. I used to wear a lot of make up. Girls are competitive with their looks. I wanted to look my best. I guess I was afraid I did not look good enough.

I do not wear any makeup besides coverup under my eyes, i have dark hair and a nice tan and I always get compliments, so thats all i feel i need :)

i never wear pounds of anythng....but a lot of girls think they look better with it but when you can scrap that sh*t off with a fingernail there is a problem. girls are insecure and we care what we look like. some girls just have horrible acne and blemishes they need covered. there are a lot of answers to y girls wear so much make-up
