well there are 26 in the in the abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz... thats the alphabet

but i am guessing thats not what you mean

there are 8 letters in "alphabet"

and there are 11 letters in "the alphabet"

There are no letterz in the alphabet. The alphabet consists of a number of letters.

Christy, she said "The" alphabet, not just "alphabet" so I agree with "looking 4", its 11,
unless she meant how many different letters, in which case there are only 7 unique letters required to form that phrase.
