I have thought about this before. You never here anyone thanking god for the loss.
Why aren't there any satan worshiping players? Then he could thank satan for the win.
"I would like to make my family for there support, my team, and of course satan for blessing me with this opportunity."

God will stand aside from human events, see Job and a number of instances in Chronicles, Kings and others, in cases where His presence will gain nothing from it.
Praying to God to win a football game is not the kind of prayer He wants. Jesus said not all those who expunged demons in His name would be accepted. That's because they were doing it for themselves, not Him.
Human v. human contests of sport are along the same lines. If the athletes genuinely put God first, they would spend more time doing His work than their own.

When a player says a prayer before a game, how do you know he's praying to win? I assume that as a good sport he prays that he doesn't get hurt or that he will play his best.
I always let our friends with rival teams who get together to watch a game that it's no fair praying to win.

Jesus doesn't play any games or any other thing. He helps us by giving us the strength to do things. And his strength plus our determination and skills, determines winning or loosing. So it is more about skill and the right play at the right time that makes a certain team win. All Jesus does is give strength to do it.

"God doesn't take sides, but we do!
For what it's worth, I do think God cares about football games. This is God's creation and I suspect God cares about everything in it. No, I can't imagine God "rooting" for one team or another the way we humans do (and certainly not "fixing" a game in favor of the team whose fans prayed the hardest), but that doesn't mean God doesn't care.
Anyway, if you want to pray about the Superbowl or your favorite team...go right ahead. At least it'll be some time for you and God to talk. :-)

I don't think Jesus helps either team win. I think he helps each individual player be the best they can be while playing. And that team work ultimately decides which team will win.

I have totally wondered that, only not with football. What if you are driving down the road praying that you will hit all green lights? Well, chances are that someone who is praying the same thing will hit all your red lights. How does that work?
