I forget things extremely fast, even when I am trying so hard to remember it. My step-dad says my memory isn't at all what it's supposed to be for someone my age. He has better memory than I do probably. Any suggestions?

I have the same exact problem. I find that if I picture things in my head I can remember them easier. BUT I FORGET TO DO THAT. If I repeat something continuously I tend to remember it. Keep some kind of connection to what you want to remember. Keep a list of things you need to do. Make up rhymes like "1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue" My mom does that. She writes on a list what she wants me to do. That way I cannot forget. PUt the list on the frig or some place you look at continuously.

There is a lot of talk about what is or is not brain food. A Canadian study suggested that saturated fat impairs memory, spatial ability and rule-learning. Likewise, sugar and caffeine may buy short-term alertness, but usually come at medium-term cost. Instead, try fish, flaxseed oil, green leafy vegetables and walnuts. All of these are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which can enhance brain function.

Some people believe vitamin E, found in almonds, corn oil, sunflower oil, walnuts and whole-grain flour, can improve memory, while others swear by choline supplements, which are converted into acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter in the brain that aids in memory and learning. Ginseng and ginkgo biloba are credited with improving memory, but herbal "medicines" are generally effective only at lining the pockets of those who sell them.

Good luck

play games (that take no time, really). like pick 6 random numbers in the am and test your self 2x during the day and test at pm to see if you can still recall them. soon don't test during the day just recall it now and then. then add to the length of the number your trying to remember. my grand ma memorized every person in our super large family's birthday. when she died at 85 she was sharp as a tack! use it a lot and you wont loose it.:)
