well i am sure everyone gave u the definition for the acronym TMJ however it is an overused most times improperly used condition. Thus the reason many insurance policies do not recognize or cover it. Go to doctors first, It could be a sign of a diseased molar, It could be a low grade ear or sinus infection, Without knowing anything about u u can use these as questions to your doctor. possible impacted wisdom teeth that need to be removed. Allergies or even your posture can affect or strain neck muscles. Do you grind your teeth while sleeping. I myself am TMJ free after the removal of my 4 wisdom teeth and a rotten molar. Good luck

TMJ is the Tri-Mandible Joint in the jaw. This is the pivot point where the skull and the jaw connect. It is a small notch that is held together with ligaments and muscles. Then the notch gets worn or the tendon / ligaments are stretched then you will have a popping, clicking or locking of the jaw. Most times this is caused by clenching of the jaw or grinding of the teeth, while you are awake but mostly while you are asleep. To remedy this problem you should consult you doctor or dentist.

I don't know what the letters stand for, but TMJ is a disorder in your jaw. My jaw cracks, and gets sore if I chew gum for too long, and I get headaches from it too.

Temporary Mandicular disJunction. It's a disease where your jaw pops out of place and back into place a lot. Makes a loud noise and hurts when you chew. They make retainers that help relieve the pain, though. My fiance has it.

stands for temporo mandibular joint and is a problem with your jaw not aligning right..causes the jaw to "pop" Or catch when you open your mouth wide..sometimes your jaw can lock...causes pain in your jaw face and/or ear sometimes. very annoying but not much you can do for it except take Ibuprofen to relax the jaw..sometimes is its severe the dentist will use a device to fix it but not always.
