Technically the term 'missile' is used to describe rockets that have guidance systems. If it does not have a guidance system it is simply called a 'rocket.'

Note on a previous answer: A heat-seeking or radar guided missile (the most common kinds of anti-aircraft misisles) would be a guided missile. Very few missiles of any sort are under manual guidance while in flight (though quite a few are guided by pre-programmed computer guidance systems). The only common exceptions that I can think of are some anti-tank weapons.
However, various militaries as well as militant groups use a variety of completely unguided missiles. For example, there are Palestinian groups firing unguided rockets at Israel. There are also amateurs in a number of countries (myself included) who fly unguided rockets.

Yes, there are what we call ballistic missiles, that once fired, can no longer be controlled as to what path they would take or what target they would hit.
And yes, a heat-seeking or radar-seeking missile is a guided missile. RPGs are also unguided.
Unguided missiles are what may be termed as "dumb bombs" (as opposed to smart weapons).

they're both extremely risky, unguided ones pose a more acceptable possibility to civilian aims, thats why i propose that Israel sells missile education platforms to Hamas. You cant blame them for firing something they have at occupiers, ought to besides hit a militia objective. Guided missiles in densely populated aspects like the Gaza strip are extra risky to civilians than unguided ones fired into Israel... in case you get my opt for the flow Hamas killed 13 human beings by employing firing 8000 missiles contained in the awesome 6 years The IDF killed 1400 human beings interior a week.

sure - the ones that got lost.
seriously - depends what you call a "missile". No one is going to spend lots of money to launch a giant bottle rocket that might go anywhere.
At the small end of the spectrum you have things like RPGs - rocket propelled grenades - that are unguided.

There are missiles that, once fired, are no longer under the control of the person who fired it. For example, the RPG. Is that what you are talking about?

Only when the guidance system is awry, then the missles can go off the mark, and kill innocent people in it's path.
