the further west you go, the cheaper the parking. however, if possible, you'd be much better off if you came to Manhattan by public transportation (bus or train) and leave your car at home. You do NOT need a car in the City...you can walk or take the subway. And you will be alot happier without a car.

I live in the theatre district. There is no such thing as free parking here. If you really want to drive, you'll have to pay for parking. That's the only way it is unless you are coming in from Jersey or Connecticut, then you can take the commuter trains in.

alot of times depending on the ticket agency you went through, you can find garage parking that is reasonable. My Mother is a huge theater buff, and does this all the time. I comes out to be cheaper then taking the train from westchester and back

Doesn't exist. The cheapest I know is the 49th street Garage. It is a block or 2 away.
I suggest you leave your car somewhere outside the city and take a train/bus etc to Penn Station. Take taxi's everywhere.
