it is amazing how dislike and hate is spewed in the hearts of our young. Therefore the people that are answering your questions are also telling all of their ignorance.

Mormons, are Christians by the actual facts that, they do believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. They also believe in the bible as the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly.

It also the only religion that has a second book called the Book of Mormon, that is a testament to the bible and tells about life on this hemisphere at the time of Christ and before.

Why people spew such hate and discontent about the members of the "Church Of Latter Day Saints" (Mormons) is beyond me.

So to answer your questions... it just has to be Ignorance of non members.

They think they are Christians. But they don't believe in the same God, they believe that Jesus is a god, the Holy Sprit is a god. That God grew up to become God. That Joseph Smith was surpossed to have seen God (yet lived), and found some stone tablets. Nobody else saw these tablets by the way. That he also saw an angel called Moroni who threatened to kill him if he told anyone what he had seen. (Read the story in the cover of the book of Mormon)
That they believe that when they die they can still get married and have children and become gods and rule a planet like adam and eve. I could go on.

OK, I'm Mormon. By now you know the correct name of the Church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We're Christian. We think of ourselves as Christian. We focus everything on Christ.

The most intelligent argument I've heard for Mormons not being Christian has to do with the trinity. We don't believe in the trinity. We believe in the Godhead. We believe that God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are separate personages, although we do believe that they are united in their work. Since we believe Christ is a god, but not the God, then I guess that means we believe in a "different" Christ. Whatever lets you sleep at night, I guess.

There are several fundamentals of the faith that orthodox Christianity has always believed that the LDS church denies. The starting point would have to be scripture that all their beliefs are based upon. Orthodox Christians have always relied on the Bible alone. It is the standard for doctrine. The LDS church, however, relies on two other books as well as one version of the bible. the bible is considered authoritative insofar that it coincides with the teachings of the other books.

Therefore, basic tenets of the faith are compromised. Who is Jesus Christ? Who is God the Father? Who is man? What is our final destiny? How is man saved? If God is really a god among gods, that is a wholly different religion than Christianity. If you are saved by grace alone, that's orthodox Christianity. If you are saved by grace plus anything else, you're adding to orthodox Christianity. Muslims say Christ was a great prophet. Christians say He was much more. When we disagree on the fundamentals of the faith, we believe two different faiths. Truth is absolute, not relative. When Christ said, "no one comes to the Father but by me," that was an absolute statement.

I have no idea other than false rumors and narrow minded thinking, like blessedman who responded that they are a cult. The actual name of the Mormon church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They are obviously Christians and should be embarced by the rest of the Christian community.

Whomever said that is quite incorrect. They are most assuredly Christian. And they do not fit the definition of a cult either. They are a legitimate religion, just like all the other Christian factions. As wildly mislead as all the others too I might add.

I "THINK"....it's b/c they don't believe that Jesus is the SON of God. They think we're ALL sons/daughters of God. We are, but Jesus was the perfect son who died for our sins. A human version of God himself. I don't think they believe all that to be true. They also create their own heaven...that's why they have such large families. They also think they can save a lost soul even after death....hmmm, that's an individual choice with God, not something someone else can do for you. I am ignorant on the specifics of mormonism though....always seem to be such good people though. Too bad your salvation is NOT received by good works...just by GRACE...that cheapens the cross. Our "good" works can never, NEVER be enough for our Holy God...HE is too perfect and too HOLY. He did all the work for us...now, we are just to believe with a childlike FAITH.

because people have the mistaken idea that we worship joseph smith or mormon. those who say that we're not christians don't know that the real name of the church is "Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints."

I DO believe in the bible, I DO believe Jesus Christ is the son of God, and that he will come again someday.

we believe that everyone is a spirit child of God, but Jesus was his only earthly son.
