They had taken refuge in the fur of one of the stinky animals. Besides, plastic was not created as yet, so Noah was helpless without the swatter thingies.

Probably the same reason that he let those 2 flys get on board. He wanted to play a practical joke on us. He had a very sick sense of humor. He should have saved the unicorns instead! I'm very, very angry with him about that.

Apparently there were enough animals to keep them occupied without bothering anything smart enough to swat them ^_^
